Safari Itinerary
Day 1 Guesthouse, Windhoek
Upon arrival at the airport you’ll be collected and transferred to your guesthouse in the city. Depending on the time of arrival, perhaps head out for an optional township tour, sunset horse ride, or simply wander around the shops or local craft centre.
Day 2-4 An der Mole, Swakopmund
You’ll be collected by your guide after breakfast and leave Windhoek behind heading west to the coast, en route we will stop at the Spitzkoppe turnoff and perhaps haggle for some locally mined stones – it’s been set up by a local community and the people mine for quartzes such as tourmaline, amethyst, and rose quartzes amongst others. From here continue to the adventure seaside town of Swakopmund, where you will have the opportunity to join a marine cruise (included activity) and experience the thrill of dolphins leaping out of the water along the boat and feed seals by hand and enjoy fresh oysters and champagne on the cruise – a great activity for the family to enjoy.
Day 5 Twyfelfontein Country Lodge, Damaraland
We leave Swakopmund after breakfast and drive north along the Skeleton Coast stopping south of Henties Bay to look at a shipwreck near the beach, we continue north to visit the huge seal colony at Cape Cross before retracing our steps and turning inland. Our destination today is Twyfelfontein Country Lodge located in the Twyfelfontein area.
Day 6&7 Grootberg Lodge, Northern Damaraland
We continue to Northern Damaraland and Grootberg Lodge. 2nights are spent here and our “free” day is spent rhino tracking –this is a wonderful activity supporting the protection of one of the greatest animals known – the endangered black rhino. If you prefer, you can alternatively track the elusive desert elephant, or visit one of the local Himba communities.
Day 8-11 Etosha National Park
After breakfast we depart for Etosha, Namibia’s prime game reserve and spend the next four nights enjoying game drives in this premier park, one of the largest and best reserves in Africa. Your guide will take you out for game drives in the park during the day and evenings are spent around the floodlit waterholes. Here we will look out and learn about the various species such as black and white rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, the endangered cheetah, hyena as well as plenty of plains game including giraffe, zebra, springbok, wildebeest, red hartebeest and many more.
Day 12 Erindi Private Game Reserve
Our destination today is Erindi Private Game Reserve, one of the largest private game reserves in Africa and a superb way to end our safari, this afternoon you will head out with a local guide in an open vehicle to see what game you can spot before returning around sunset.
Day 13 Windhoek
We return to Windhoek today via the Okahandja craft market, where we drop you at your accommodation or at the airport in time for your onward flight, no flights prior to mid afternoon.
